President
of the European Union, the Irish Prime Minister Berti Ahern expressed his deep
grief because of the tragic loss of Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski,
appraising him as a person who gave "huge contribution for peace in Macedonia".
The high EU representative Xavier Solana said on Trajkovski's death that "it
is very tragic day for Macedonia as well as for peoples in Europe", adding
that Macedonian people would have difficulty filling that void.
The coordinator of Stability Pact for South-East Europe Erhard Busek also expressed
grief for the death of Macedonian President saying that he was a diligent ally
in the cooperation between Macedonia and the Stability Pact.
"His influence as a mediator during the tensions in Macedonia and his
grasping of the minority issues built his moral authority which far outreached
the borders of his country", said Busek.
The Croatian President Stipe Mesich in his speech in front of European Parliament
pointed out that Trajovski's death will have "political consequences" for
the region, reminding that together with Macedonian President and presidents
of other countries in the region, he worked on the program for stabilization
and reconciliation in South-Eastern Europe. Mesich expressed belief that the
process in which Macedonian President participated will continue.
Foreign Minister of Serbia and Monte Negro Goran Svilanovic also expressed
his condolences to Macedonian people and to the family of dead Macedonian President
Boris Trajkovski, pointing out that [Trajkovski] performed his duty in a difficult
period and that he gave a huge contribution for the stability in the region.
The plane of Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski who led the Macedonian delegation
